I just listened to one of the greatest hip-hop cd's of all time! Now to make things clear to some people who think RAP and Hip-Hop are the same. They are NOT!!!!! There is a clear difference. I will do my best to keep it short because I can ramble on about this. The SIMPLE difference is that RAP is that crap you hear on the radio and Hip-Hop is not. Hip-Hop music is more soulfull and meaning. Rap is about money, ICE, and b!@#hes. Some people believe that Hip-Hop is more of a way of life. Also HIP-HOP has 5 elements. It was DJ Afrika Bambaataa that outlined the five pillars of hip-hop culture: MCing, DJing, breaking, graffiti writing, and knowledge. Now onto the cd it is Brother ALI's new album titled "US" on RhymeSayers Entertainment. I am sure Desert Fox will have something to add to this.

I can't stand modern rap, but I love 80's-90's rap and even some modern hip hop.

That was the heart and soul of real hip-hop back in the 80's and early 90's I could bore most of the people on this forum with all the information I know about early hip-hop. You really should look up Brother Ali and his label mates. You can go to www.rhymesayers.com to hear some samples of their work and read their bio's. Hip-Hop is my true love but if I am not listening to hip-hop then it is Metal, but that is a whole other conversation. I also agree with you that modern rap does suck.
