Hello everyone,
I personally don't use SWAT tactics for two reasons.
1. Although law enforcement trained, I am not SWAT Trained. Their mission is altogether different
than a military mission. Both use squad sized elements comprised of teams but the mission and
training are different. SWAT tactics are used against a lighter armed (most of the time) enemy
who operate without a support structure where SWAT ALWAYS has the advantage of numbers,
time, and basic support and a limited ability to act within the confines of legal systems.
The military mission, on the other hand, often assumes the enemy is well armed, has a basic support
infrastructure with resupply of troops and materiel while enjoying a much lower Rule of Engagement
in a war zone.
2. I prefer military squad size tactics and maneuvers because the other airsoft teams are equally
equipped, have nearly equal numbers, and unlimited rules of engagement. If you shoot first and
ask questions later, you are not using SWAT tactics. You are using small unit tactics regardless of
how you are "dressed". If you use limited Rules of Engagement with the intent to capture rather than
kill the enemy, time and support are on your side, and you are rewarded for not killing the opponent
instead of making kills at the first available opportunity, then you might be a practitioner of SWAT tactics.
Otherwise, you are using military tactics in a swat suit. Hooah!
Respectfully,
