PostSubject: Custom RPK   Mon Jan 12, 2009 2:49 am

I am about to come into possesion of a tokyo marui Ak with a guarder rpk kit.

I will check out the internals of the gun once i recieve it. so far this is the only info i have.

Supposdely shooting around 380 FPS. Not sure the ROF. ( ive never shot the gun)
Needs new gears--will be replaced with G&G gearset
Heavily Upgraded ( not sure everything that is in this put previous owners have stated its heavily upgraded)
-Guarder KIT
-Custom Made Stock
Deans Wiring
Will Include Custom Made Battery Pack

I was thinking of getting a box mag for it and making it a support weapon. I read about the RPK and it was used as a support version of the AK. Do you think anyone will have a problem with this?

No, but I think you'll be looking for snail or drum mags not boz magazines. You could also use side-by-side motor driven magazines. Any waffle mag will do since they are chambered for 7.63x39. You can also see them use 45 round bakalite mags. Mongo found eletric drum mags for cheap, so I'd PM him to start or ask Blu if his is still for sale.

Stick with brand names that mean something when it comes to small parts... large things are easy to replicate but the smaller and more detail a item is then the cheaper clones go. Get a good box mag for that RPK

If your going for a realistic loudout. Drum mags are NOT used often. They use the 45 round long Bakelite mags.

They can be found here in highcap form.

i am going to be buying a drum mag with electric winding. i am not getting the one i posted about. I did check and they have a real life drum mag they use for these guns

the reason is i do not like long magazines because they get in the way when u try to lay down and shoot.

went into the gearbox on the gun last night.

the spur gear was ripped to shreds. I am going to replace the gears with stock G&G gears that came out of my umg.
the internals were slightly upgraded. it had what i believe is a upgraded trigger switch, upgraded spring guide, and possibly upgraded cylinder head, and it had a very sturdy tappet plate.

ANyone got a suggestion on what kind of hop up bucking i should get?
the old one was ripped.

The gun has a long inner barrel. the motor had no name on it so im not sure what kind it is. im just going to try it out like it is. I am going to wrap the cylinder head up with some teflon tape. do a temporary o-ring stretch to check the fps.
later i will put in a quad seal.

What spring should I use for 380-385 fps?

I am going to go ahead and make this a support weapon.with an electric drum mag.

You need gears for a version 3 not version 2. Im not sure why you would buy another tapet plate but if I where you I would choose a Super Core piston over the G&G if you are going to spend that kind of money on it. You can find most of this stuff off of Redwolf for cheaper. The Super Core alone will save you $20 which is enough to cover the shipping. Check the barrel length. You might want to go to a bore-up kit if you plan to use a TBB later. Anything over 509mm for 6.01 I would go bore-up. RPKs can fit PSG1 barrels so I'd go bore-up even without a TBB. Prometheus makes a nice <400FPS hopup bucking.

I have heard good things about Systema's new springs.

Post pictures of the motor.

The gears you chose are standard torque gears. I would use an ICS T 3000 (nevermind if you use the magnum motor) or better with a large battery. Motors like the Magnum could even take advantage of high speed gears to drop the ratio down even farther. Anything else and you'll have lower battery life and high amp draws. If you are not using a mosfet or fuse your trigger contacts will get the brunt of the damage. Magnums will need a FAT 9.6v or larger.

IMO
SW-Computer or AB-LONG MOSFET
AK Bore-up kit
V3 Modify gear set & shims (prometheus)
Super Core > G&G
9.6v 4000 or higher

By the way its nice to see that you are doing the RPK some justice. cheers

It would be a cheap way to get it off the ground. If you are comfortable with the majority of the parts for long term use I would go for it.

MB
Cylinder head
Cylinder
air nozzle
Spring guide
trigger contacts
MB screws and springs

I would buy Kanzen 8mm ceramic bearings though and replace the piston after the SRC breaks.

I think there are beter options but not for the money. BTW, I was wrong about that gear set. There are Modfy gear sets that have adjustable bevel gear placment. Allowing v2 and v3 compatibility. Nice gears too BTW.

Actually I can't let you just stumble into this. YOU NEED A BORE-UP KIT! I would go for an 8mm MB if you are planning on using a 400FPS spring.

50 30 50 17 5 11 51 10 87 62

$224 not counting your Magnum motor, Prommy hop bucking and your barrel.

If you are going to use a barrel longer than a 550mm you need a bore-up kit. If you use a 6.01 TBB longer 469mm you need a bore-up kit. A 6.03 TBB will give you some leeway, which you need if you plan to run your barrel out to 590mm. A 6.01 would be bad ass but if your BU-kit does not cut it you'll get barrel suck. CALL DBC 1-509-248-1709 and ask about a 590mm 6.01 TBB, a BU-kit and the velocity you will be gaining. If you tell you any thing but "no problem go with a Prommy barrel. I can't justify a DBC without the velocity increase which is one of the reasons I suggested a SP110 spring over the 120. The sp110 is a 370-380FPS spring. This should put you at 390FPS+. You can get wel over with great compression but thats to come latter.

I hope you realize that an RPK is not that easy to overhaul from strach. If you take off the BU-kit from the price quote you'll spend $176 which I would to get the hand selected parts instead of the SRC. The BU-kit, motor and barrel are the parts that are really putting you over the "wad of cash" level. I'd leave the barrel out for now and even the motor and see what you can muster up. You'll need at least a 9.6v for the magnum motor so running the current motor on a 9.6 with a 110 will give decent to good RPS with 21 ratio gears. I could see 20rps depending on you motor, battery and wiring.

there is a method of checking if i need a bore up kit.

i will be filling the cylinder with water and then pouring it into the barrel. if it does not fill the barrel then i need more air

the bore up kit specifies that it needs an m120 or greater. if i used a 110 and a tightbore.....would this be a problem u think?

i will be getting parts as i go along. thanks for the suggestions.
