PostSubject: First Sniper   Thu Jun 04, 2009 12:52 pm

First off, I wanna say Hey!

So, i'm a little new to airsofting as a sport, and i'm thinking about purchasing a sniper rifle for skirmishes i will join in the future. I'm looking for a durable, over 250 fps, on-the-cheap sniper. I really don't care about what gun it's modeled after, however it seems all snipers on the market are M14's =P.

Anyway, Thanks in advance for any referrals and/or advice,
-Str8punkd

Thanks for replying, I have been looking at that one....

So far i've found the BAR-10, the Matrix Tactical M14 Package, and possibly the Well Bolt-Action model.

Out of those, the BAR-10 is better? Again, thanks for the help.

Thanks! Can't make this one, seeing as I still have my crappy Crosman M72 Pulse...I'd get dominated lol! . Once i get a respectable gun, i'll try to make a few of the Heardmont games. Shouldn't be too much longer, and no longer than a month.

To a beginner I would recommend you buy an AEG first and then a bolt action rifle. Sniping is not for everyone. The M14s are not bad for accurate shooting and still being able to fire full-auto. I have a BAR-10 and have had a great deal of fun but I am no sniper. The CYMA M14s are the best Chinese made M14s on the market IMO. They use TM compatible parts and magazines. What ever you do, use heavier BBs than .2g. .25g or higher would be much better for cutting through brush and accurate shots at longer distances. If anyone tell you that you shouldn't because your BBs will be slower, call them a newb and remember that objects in motion require energy to move. The heavier the object the more energy that is necessary to move it. To a point this is what you'll be doing. Heavier objects retain that energy better which results in longer distances and high velocities 100' out.

these are estimates and not exact. Some replicas perform better with certain weights, especially those without adjustable hopup, and some aftermarket parts will allow you some leeway in your weight selection but in general these numbers and weights will produce solid accuracy in wooded areas with average weather conditions.

<300FPS use .2g
300-340FPs use .23g
340-380 use .25g
380-420 use .28g
420-480 use .3g
480-530 use .36g
530-590 use .4g
590+ use .43g

If you want any help with upgrades you PM me.

Yea, the CYMA brand in general seems fairly reliable... I've read many a review that say CYMA is the way to go, thanks for all the help!

(On a side note, i wouldn't be able to call people noobs, cause i'd be youngest person there XD I like my head where it is, on my shoulders =P)
