| My son and I are trying to get off the couch, and away from thr XBOX a bit. We live just outside Huntsville in the Toney community, and are looking for airsoft activities that we can both get into. As the title states, we have no gear, in fact, until looking at the youtube videos of the Scotland airsoft wars, I had no idea that airsoft was so intense or advanced. I merely associated airsoft with the clear plastic toys that you see on "Wall-World's" shelves, I had no idea... Anyways, my name is Johnnie, and my sons name is Jace. I guess for our first weekend of airsoft hunting, we are going to try and locate all the local airsoft vendors, and maybe visit an Army/Navy Surplus store or two to look at camo and gear etc. I have been doing lots of reading, but points in the right direction are always welcome...I have my eye on a CYMA M14 from AirsoftGI...so, am I heading in the right direction? I'm still researching what I like for CQB... |

| right on man.well for basic BDU's,i go to the thrift stores.you can normally get a complete set(tops/bottoms)for $7-10,but for vest & stuff like that i would recommend the Army Surpluse stores.as for the gun,i've never tried a CYMA M14,but my buddy has a CYMA AK47 & he likes it alot,so far so good.but i myself am still fairly new to this as well,me & the people i play with have only been in to it about 4 months or so.also if you check under the "local events",you can find out when/where local scenarios are happening.anyway, hope some of this has been helpful,& welcome to the forums. _________________ CURRENTZ: AGM-M16A4 AGM-416 CA-M16A4(SOCOM)

| Like my teammate said try your local thift store for seem pretty cheap camo's or your local surplus shop. The price at the surplus will be higher but they are a sure bet to have what you looking for. Be sure to shop around for what type of camo you want. There is a lot of different types off camo out there like woodland bdu's, abu, acu, Marpat, Cadpat and about 2 dozen other types. So look them up befor you rush into something. Your best bet for gear is going to the local surplus shop for some cheaper used stuff to start off with but you can find what you are looking for online at a few different websites like airsoftatlanta.com, airsoftmegastore.com, evike.com, airsoftgi.com to get you off to a good start. Everyone on the forum has their personal favorite on which website is better but it is always your choice on who to go with. There are more websites out there than the ones I listed but those seem to be the most popular and most visited. As far as guns go everyone has there fav but you will find that everyone on this forum tends to be extremely helpfull about helping you pick a good and helping you if they ever break or you want to upgrade it. Just browse around the forum and see what you can get into. _________________ I don't know what it's called; I only know the sound it makes when it kills a man!!!

| Welcome, I live over in Arab, We have a small Russian based team in Huntsville, we play in Bad Karma in TN (A great place to start airsoft btw) 100-500 people a game. I can help you with gear, but im no gun expert. www.airsoftgi.com- CA based retailer with large selection www.nashvilleairsoft.com- Massive airsoft store in Nashville www.airsoftatlanta.com- walk in store in ATL www.ebaybanned.com- Hong Kong based site with cheap prices and free shipping www.gunnerairsoft.com- very cheap prices but expensive shipping from Hong Kong. Where you get your gear depends on what kind of loudout you really want to make, Modern us, Cold war US, Russian, German, it's up to you. I can point you in the direction of some good sources for European and Russian gear, and possibly some US gear. _________________ Dboys AKS-74 Dboys AK74M Dboys AKMS Dboy's HK416 Alabama Airsoft's Official Gear Whore.

I have actually become a fan of AirsoftGI, they are quite informative, and have a huge selection of weapons and gear. I assume that their pricing is in line with typical airsoft, I just need to find out what typical is...
Anyways, I'm excited, my son is excited, should be a fun hunt today. |

You know, I have never really given much thought to a theme, I guess when I get to the Surplus and thrift stores, I will see what suites my fancy, and try and choose a weapon to match.
So Bad Karma is good huh? Well, I will have to check it out, as I just signed on to the TNAIRSOFT forum the other day...thanks for the input. |
