For what it's worth, we've used a tennis ball mortar in a game before. The game was based on WW2 and the mortar/tennis ball had a certain kill radius. It was more for the imersion into the scenario rather than an opposing team actually planning on getting kills with it. We (the refs) fired it at the team making a beach landing as they exited mockups of boats. I think only one person was hit and no injuries were reported. Nobody felt their life was endangered and the tennis balls weren't fired directly at anybody. Think of a tennis ball being dropped from a 3 story building and hitting you in the head. Not that big of a deal.

I dont know if this the right place to post this, but I did make an airsoft flamethrower that works really well.

Guys down in florida thought it was pretty neat. Fires at about 100 fps, holds 75 pellets, and works off compressed air
