Hello everyone,

Here is a surpirse I have for you all, www.alabamaairsoft.com. It is something a few people have been working on to give alabama airsoft a new, professional look that we need with the growth of our sport in the state. We have a full working site, and brand new fourms, so everyone head over and register and pass it on to your friends.

Excellent looking site, I like the set-up and catagories alot...questions: Is there enough membership to support the three forums that now exist for Alabama? or is this site closing down leaving two?

I would not really consider the deep south airsoft link an "official" site since it's not really active by any members of our fourm except 1 or 2.

This being a suprise to me as well, an admin, I have not decided what will become of this site. I will see how well the new site is taken by the people and if they desire a management change then so be it.

if it's not broke don't fix it. Right? RIGHT RIGHT!!! That was a quote from Clockwork Orange if you guys didn't know. I have checked it out and to be honest with you it serves the same purpose this site does and this site has no problems. I am on both sites but I will continue to use this one until it gets shut down. I am happy with our current management cheers

I have waited to respond on this to see what has happened and to see if anything would immediately follow it. I have given my decision a lot of thought but I think it is the best choice in my opinion.

A3 has, once again, opened a can of worms. I am not sure if you are aware but these new forums are his. I am an admin on his forums to provide an alternative line of reasoning similar to what we have been doing here in the case his forums takes off. That said, I can't admin two sites with equal attention nor can I say that I will be an admin on his forums until I no longer want to be.

When asked, A3 claimed that there is nothing nefarious to be said about his actions in owning and creating his website and forums. The re-accruing thought to me is that he did not give any notice or concern to the purchase of our web domain. He owns "Alabama Airsoft". If any action was taken in bringing this to our attention it was an effort not to. This is a contradiction to what has been an assumed social standard in the AL airsoft community. You do something to help the sport in a public manner where everyone has an opinion on it.

I have been thinking of an idea to help his forums and that was to encourage him to agree to a chapter and let the community elect admins and moderators to run the forums. I have now decided that I do not want to give him the oppertunity to save face by making a his chosen group, one that has been chosen by the community. I would rather see it happen on these forums.

In the coming weeks we will draw out a set of guidelines and decide how many admin and moderators we need. Once we understand how we will vote we will all be given an oppertunity to vote on who will run the forums. And, yes this means that Zac & I may no longer be the admin if we are not chosen by you. In no way, does this mean I do not want to be an administrator but its time that everyone has a say in it.

These forums have been riding by the seat of our pants for about a year now but some of that was unavoidable but they are free and as long as we are here we won't have to move again. I remember when Mongo called me and asked me to administrate the forums when Dave wanted us off his server. I turned him down because of my commitments to my fiance, school and work, but inevitably still did it because no one else was. I have enjoyed a lot of it but it was not always fun. We have made serious accomplishments and we should be proud of our forums. Its time for us to be able to choose who will listen to our decisions and make the changes. Because someone owns the "alabama airsoft" web domain only means we can't and we can't do it our way.

So, this is it, do you want our forums ran by a group of people that will representative of our decisions or by A3 and his selected?

i say we just keep using these forums as they are...if we need new admins we can add some as we go. i just dont want to see our airsoft community fall apart like i saw the tfat forums fall and split.....

in a lot of ways we are all admins we all comment on what each other says or does ....sometimes things have needed a little technical cleaning up but i think that would be the same on any forum

If or when this forum dies I will move to the DSA, Tennesee or BK forum. I refuse to use an outlet owned or overseen by a bully and self absorbed despot. Why you might ask, this is a hobby and I do it for enjoyment I do not need threats of legal action from any person who does not get his way. With the exception of one or two instances the new owner of the domain has been at the center of every blow up since I have been on this forum. I can take my little red wagon and go elsewhere. Those of you who choose to support him I wish you the best but I cannot.

Guys this boils down to one issue. Do we want to govern ourselves or let another do it for us. I stand beside Matt and say we should stay here and make our own decisions. Further, I agree that we should draw up a set guidelines on how we decide our leaders/admins. We will lead ourselves and not have the content of our forum decided by a individual but by us, the members of Alabama Airsoft. I say this forum is our home and I am staying here with my brothers.
