There does not seem to be much discussion about kits or loadouts here...do you have a kit list that wouldhelp a noob like myself?

I like ACU, and Woodland Digital, any pointers would be helpfull Smile

I wear MARPAT (digital woodland) and I love it.

It blends very well.

ACU doesn't seem to blend as well around Alabama.
Now if you are in an urban enviroment you will blend very well.

MARPAT is a good start.

Any vest will do you as long as it holds magazines, ammo, and other misc gear that you use.

I like the MOLLE system vests. You can buy all the pouches that YOU want and YOU can put them where YOU please.

It is going to cost a little more to do this. BUT...You could start here. http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/Airsoft_Tactical_Gear_Vests_Condor_s/20.htm

They have some pretty nice vests.

There really aren't requirements for anything. I mean when I started I ran with jeans, a hoodie, and a cheap vest from Academy.

Its really all about what you want though.

I looked at the Atlanta site, and picked a vest I liked with a hydration pack, but it said the bladder was not included...and it never said where to get a bladder for the vest...is this a secret, or am I missing something?

any bladder will do, Dick's, Academy and Wal-Mart have them. You can also use the internet to find them. I like Google but here's a freebie, http://www.nwbackpack.com/products/encapsul_bladders.php

For vests or MOLLE, its a personal choice. If you are just going to use hi-caps then you really don't need one. Using midcaps and the like, will put on in a whole other ball park. Carrying 6-12 magazines will require a ton of room and a drop pouch. You might not want to get a massive pouch for that many mags. All the weight is centralized and that portion of the vest tends to feel cumbersome. If you want to carry multiple hi-caps, than a simple ALICE mag pouch will do. These clip to most belts and will hold 2-3 mags.

Battle belts and bandoleers are not a bad option though if you don't want something large that might restrict your movement.

I got this http://www.ebairsoft.com/eagle-style-rrvv-hawg-p-1883.html . It needs some work since the webbing slips which is a huge no go for tac gear. But it has good ventilation and plenty of room. Probably way too much for most players but my load out has special needs. I have to be bale to carry CO2, water, and sometimes a ton of mags.

You also might want to check out this place. DAG is owned my one of our forum members and his stuff is great quality.

Thanks for the links admin, I have spent the day researching just what I want in a kit...required a spread sheet to keep up with all of the prices and numbers etc.

The Spartans of Gadsden have a great "kit" or gear page with links to everything on it...this truly has made my search even easier, as I am putting togther a Digital Woodland kit.

http://spartan-airsoft.webs.com/spartangear.htm

I wish more sites did kit listings like this.

As Alabama Airsoft's Residential Gear Whore, I can make a few suggestions, Ill make a list of a few kits that I currently run and the setups that i run for each gun.

I mainly do a Russian kit, but I've slowly transitioned into a broader range of gear. I love accuracy in my kits so I usually go all out, a lot of the stuff is not needed but is cool to have.

If your wanting to do a correct Marine kit for example grab you a molle interceptor, I wouldn't want one as they are very bulky.

Kit 1. USSOCOM

Rifle: Custom M4 with magpul parts.
BDU's: Crye Replica Multicam
Boots: US Issue Desert Tan Boots.
Headgear: King Arms IBH helmet, painted with krylon and has velcro on it, with night vision mount.
Plate Carrier: Cordura Land CIRAS with 2 replica plates and an assortment of pouches
Backpack: 24 hour assault pack with 2.5l hydration kit, 1 mag pouch on the back of it for friendly reloading.
Accessories: Zip Ties on the back of the vest

Kit 2: Russian Federation Paratroopers (VDV)

Rifle: Dboys AK74M
BDU's: Flora with Correct patches.
Boots: US Issue Jungle boots
Headgear: Flora Kepi
Body Armor: 6B13 Issue Body Armor with trainer plates
Vest: 6SH92 Assault vest with 3 day assault pack
Accessories: AK47 bayonet, soviet belt, collar pins, etc

Kit 3: Soviet Paratroopers

Rifle: Dboys AKMS
BDU's: KLMK Jumpsuit
Boots: Issue Jackboots
Headgear: Afganka or Panama hat.
Body Armor: 6B2(Coming Soon)
Vest: Lifchika

This is just some examples of gear that you can get, it's really up to you or what the game calls for. If your going to a milsim game I would go in heavy gear, if a local game I would go more high speed and not be so loaded down.
BDU's: Flora with

PostSubject: ACU...NO Go for Alabama or the Southeast..   Fri Sep 18, 2009 3:18 am

As one who wears ACUs in the ROTC, and did some airsofting in ACUs, I discovered quickly
that I might as well be wearing a hazmat suit. LOL!

That's why I switched to multicam. You can see my multicam in the local flora on this thread:

Multicam Thread

They commonly come by two vendors, Propper and Tru-Spec, a slightly more expensive vendor but better made uniform.
My ACUs are Propper, which I will never buy Propper again. I am sold on Tru-Spec.

Respectfully,
Esquire

I looked at CSA and This and That Army Navy Surplus outlets today, browsing for MARPAT Woodland Digital camo. Through my limited search, I pretty much decided I do not like Propper brand camo's. Online, I can get Tru Spec at fairly decent prices, and will probably go that route...on the upside, This and That did have (1) Tru Spec Coyote colored Camelbak for $40, so I brought it home. The Coyote color seemed to compliment the brown tones in the Woodland Digital pretty good.

Good prices, I just wish they had my size (2XL)

Question, do you guys prefer the tacticle shirts with velcro for adding/removing patches with ease, or do you use the battle shirt and sew your patches on permanently? I am leaning towards the velcro shirts mayself...

Just purchase some Velcro and sew it on to the BDU sleeve pockets. This is what I have done. The combat shirts are great for the summer time when you have your vest on. I like the BDU shirts myself, they offer more protection from BB strikes (thicker materiel).

BDUs can be very hot though... i would go with the shirt that already has velcro

As soon as I can get my limit extended on my PayPal account, I plan ordering just that...a set runs about $90.00 and they are not even true issue Shocked

Now a question regarding goggles...do players prefer smoke, grey (tinted) lenses, or clear lenses? I have found a pair that I like, but I am waiting to hear what would be best to use in all situations. Infantry Goggles

I would not suggest those goggles. Do not go cheap on your goggles. They are the only protection for your eyes. You can get a real nice pair of Tactical goggles for around $40-50. Most of your nicer goggles come with both lenses clear and gray. There are two thing that are important to look for when you buy goggles. First, make sure that they exceed the ANSI Z87.1 and US Military spec: MIL-DTL-43511D high velocity requirements. Second, the goggles must be sealed. Here is a list of brands that I would suggest: ESS, Revision, Wiley X, Black Hawk. Any paintball masks or goggles meet requirements as well. Check out these ballistic tests.
