There were a few faults in a Montgomery thread and then the problem snow balled today.
Please excuse me while I describe some issues that exacerbated the situation.
Necro-posting: the restarting of an obviously old thread. In some cases this is alright, such as a case study on a gun's performance over time, but in general it unnecessary. Its unacceptable to try to reengage an old conversation just because you got bored.
Thread-jacking: the interruption of the post's topic is rude. These forums are free, we have unlimited space, just start your own post. Or PM a message if its just pertinent to one person.
Cross-posting: intentionally inserting info or conversation into a section of the forums that is not a designated section. I can understand if we lack a particular section and in most cases the "general airsoft" section takes on this burden. PM if we need new sections. But don't cross-thread it is chaotic to have, for example, event threads in the technical section.
With a few explanations out of the way I think I can start.
The Wetumpka Game thread in the Montgomery section was almost a year old. I've deleted the thread now. Someone necro-posted, which is easy to correct and a simple mistake. No harm-no-foul. Try not to do it again. The dates of the posts are to the right of the subject. Another member then decided to post about another game. This is a "no no" for two reasons. One, its thread-jacking and two, cross-threading. There is no reason why a post should be in the Montgomery section pertaining to a game in Cullman. The reason we have sections is to organize the forums. If we followed the logic of, "not everyone reads every section" thus we should post any or all info in any or all sections regardless of context we would not need sections. I think we can all realize that the "local game" section is the place to go to find info on local games in the state. If someone doesn't care to look, they are not interested in playing. We do have chairsofters on these forums. I'm frequently one of them. This goes for all the sections. Events posted in city sections are intended to be small events more to the line of pick-up games. These are truly "local" games while our "local games" section is a state wide game section.
I can't believe the post went on for almost a full page and contained nothing more than an argument. Guys, get along. No one is in trouble but I'm sure some of you are embarrassed.
SINCE I AM COMMENTING ON FORUM BEHAVIOR EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A SECOND TO READ THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE.
I'm starting to have to decipher some of yall's writing. I know its English but you can at least try to get the spelling close. Mozilla Firefox has spell check built in. Its nice, I use it. I actually re-read my posts before submitting them, I think my professors would call this proof reading. If I can't read your writing I'm going to delete your post. This also goes the same for terrible grammar. I have also seen some very vague titles. Describe your titles with info pertaining to your post. IE, NEW AEG RELEASE: AGM STEN. WWII COMMANDOS LOOK!. THIS SHOULD ALSO BE POSTED IN THE AEG SECTION! This is not hard and it makes searching through the forums much easier to find posts based on their subject matter. I don't want to delete your posts but I will to keep the forums in order. If you need something I'm here, just PM me.
