PostSubject: What is a good, affordable M16A4?   Wed Aug 12, 2009 4:10 am

I have a JG BAR10 (new) and a UTG M14 (old) and won't be buying another weapon for some time, but I would love to get a good M16A4 in the $150-200 range. I have looked into the 2010 JG M16A4, but it has barrel wobble and shoots too hot (450fps allegedly!) and I have seen a review where it exploded beer bottles on youtube! I am currently lookin' at the Dboy Full Metal M16A4 RIS DMR on ASGI for $189 and it is also sold on megastore. It is fairly new and I just wanted to know if it is any good; here are the specs: 430fps, 300rd mag, includes battery, charger, foregrip, PEQ box, sling, and is advertised as having NO barrel wobble. Also is the ECHO1 M16A4 any good (i won't get it if it has barrel wobble). Oh yeah i would be using it as a medium-long range weapon for assault, and as a spotter's weapon to back-up my friends BAR10 if we were a sniper team. thx.
p.s. i've been playing airsoft since jan '09 and am new to this forum!

I wouldn't overlook a gun just because it has a little bit of wobble in the barrel because even the real M16a4 has some wobble but it's your money. I don't like Jg, Never have. I've fired and fielded some Dboys AK74s and yes i know this isn't an M16 but The performance and quality is similar which is nice, I was impressed with the accuracy of the dboys i fired and i know some who are mipressed with there Dboys M4s. I do not have any experience first hand with the AGM but I have used an Echo 1 Stag arms M16 and I liked it, was accurate for an airsoft gun with out optics.

when u say i should NOT overlook a gun because of barrel wobble u have to remember i don't know how severe the barrel wobble is and i dont know if u have any experience with UTG AEGs (eg: my m14) but i just want to avoid spending $120+ on just to find out i bought a piece of crap! I looked into the ECHO1 on ASGI & found that I like the ECHO1 STAG15 M16A4 DMR, but it only has 330fps Crying or Very sad and i was looking more into the 400fps range right around the limit of shooting too hot Very Happy . also if u haven't noticed by now i want one with ris which pretty much rules out the AGM! the reason i want one with 400fps is i want to be able to sling a bb out to about 200ft at least fairly accurately to get the advantage over opposing M4A1s, AK74us, and AK47s, and maybe even to have at least some chance against an enemy sniper (lets hope i never face a BAR10 with a M16 at 200ft affraid ). but that M16 u mentioned, could it shoot 200ft? i don't want another sniper if i had a man sized target at 200ft and could hit it in 1-5 shots i would be satisfied (i think: tell me if i should raise my standards lol! )

Get a dboy's. It's full metal, comes with battery, high cap, PEQ box and a grip. and has about 150-160 foot range.

Heres a tip for the barrel wobble problem. Anything that is a clone of Tokyo Marui is going to have barrel wobble, though its not as severe as you think. Classic army utilizes the one piece outer barrel which eliminates the barrel wobble. Just a tidbit of info. Now with that being said, I own a echo 1 commando hybrid that the whole front assembly is from the echo 1 and i have it tightened down to where there is almost no play in it. SO the barrel wobble can be minimized.

I would highly recomend the G&G GR16, they are 170 on ASGI.

I would not recomenda g&g m4/16 variant they are put together poorly and I find the quality to be lacking. I don't know about the performance because mine didn't even work out of the box.

First of all i don't like the g&g, because: A) it doesn't include battery/charger, B) it has no ris; {i don't mind it being plastic}
Second i don't like the echo1 because although it looks beautiful it only has 330fps, and has bad barrel wiggle and that irritates me [if at all possible i want no wobble],
Thirdly i love the agm for some reason it looks good, has good reviews, shoots at 400fps, but sadly no ris (how annoying)
Finally there is the dboys which is by far my favorite, only thing is shoots at 430fps: I KNOW MOST PEOPLE PLAY WITH WELLINGTON RULES, SO IS 430FPS TOO HOT FOR AN AEG?! thx, for all the help! just so there is no misconceptions, i WILL NOT be getting any m16 any time soon... i would simply love to get one sometime in the unforseeable future!

If you want a DMR you might want to consider something over 400FPS. Not saying you have to but you'll be technically using a field rifle at a 30' MED. DMR's velocity range to 450FPS and up with a 100' MED.

This one doesn't focus on rails as much but you get what you need and I think you can move them around. Blu has already owned one before, I would PM him he you are seriously considering it. I personally think you are asking a lot though. "Cheap" and "DMR" usually doesn't mix in the same sentence. DMRs are by far one of the most expensive roles in airsoft (SAWs and Snipers are the others). This is a fine base and could really last you. In fact you could swap to an 8mm MB for $50 latter on. That would hush up your MB noise and help you conceal yourself if you need to go solo in the woods. I am also very confident of A&K gears. 450FPS is not the normal load for gears but I have thrown their standard ratio gears at my Systema Magnum and 450FPS springs in my M60. I have gone through 20k BBs in a day before. I really can say that their gears impressed me.

I would go ahead and get a G&P motor for this though. Most ACM motors I've seen suck @ss. They are load, weak and slow or some combination of the three. A&Ks are slow and load. A G&P M140 or M160 would be fine. G&Ps are some of the quietest motors I've heard and the are as cheap and they are powerful. Motors for M16s are drop in parts and require basic knowledge you should already know. No MN knowledge required. Smile

Instead of worrying about which gun comes with a battery, I think you should consider that they didn't force you to buy some craptastic one. Get a nice battery from cheapbatterypacks.com. You won't regret it. You should use a 9.6v large type battery. A nice handmade battery from them costs $42-50 depending if you want the cell construction upgraded. I upgrade all mine and I get all my NiMh from them.

True statements from above, the batteries that you get with a china gun pretty much are garbage so dont let that sway your opinon any.

i want a gun that already comes with a battery because i don't care about the battery, as long as the battery works that is all that matters to me. i don't care about rate of fire, i just want to eventually make 2 kits: a USMC sniper kit, and a USMC rifleman kit (present day) that is the main reason it has to be ris. but i don't want something so powerful
that i have a med of 100ft: i'll be needing to use it for as close 30-40ft in worst case scenario... (by the way what is the fps that goes with a 30ft med?) i guess the wobble doesn't matter as long as it isn't too bad. but if the rifle fires at 430 can i still use it at 30ft away or will that have an 100ft med, i've looked at the rules but found them a little confusing...
