Introduction and Real Steel History

This is the brand new, just released Dboys RK10S (AKMS). It is a VFC AKMS clone.

The AKM (Russian: Автомат Калашникова Модернизированный; Avtomat Kalashnikova Modernizirovanniy or "automatic rifle Kalashnikov modernized") is a 7.62 mm assault rifle designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. It is an upgraded version of the AK-47 rifle and was developed in the 1950s. Introduced into service with the Red Army in 1959, the AKM is the most ubiquitous variant of the entire AK series of firearms and it has found widespread use with most member states of the former Warsaw Pact and its many African and Asian allies. The production of Soviet rifles was carried out at both the Tula Arsenal and Izhevsk Mechanical Works. It was officially replaced in Soviet service by the AK-74 in the late 70s, but remains in use worldwide.he main variant of the AKM is the AKMS (S – Skladnoy [Folding]), which was equipped with an under-folding metal shoulder stock in place of the fixed wooden stock. The metal stock of the AKMS is somewhat different from the folding stock of the previous AKS-47 model as it has a modified locking mechanism, which locks both support arms of the AKMS stock instead of just one (left arm) as in the AKS-47 folding model. It is also made of rivetted steel pressings, instead of the milled versions of most AKS-47s

Retail, Contents, Box and Material Content.

Gunner airsoft was the first HK retailer to have this rifle in stock but quickly sold out of both the RK10 and RK10S. I bought this from WGC. This was my 1st order from them and it went pretty smooth.

The Box Contains the following: Dboy's AKMS, Steel 7.62 style mag, Chinese Charger, Dboy's 8.6v battery, and a new style replica soviet sling. The box is very plain and does not have the normal artwork.

There are 2 main cosmetic differences to the DBoy's RK10 and RK10S. The full metal' version has a Tula proof (a star) while the 'full steel' version has an Izmash proof (an arrow in a triangle). The date and serial number, like all DBoys AK replicas, is set at 1991 with a serial number of 1121. This is a hold over from the VFC model of AKS74U which they copied, obviously model number 1121.

The Externals.

The Dboy's RK10S is a direct copy of the VFC AKMS and has almost exact furniture. It features a poor looking fake bakelite pistol grip but has some very nice real laminated wood handguards. The whole rifle is steel except for the outer barrel. The gun stays very true to the VFC construction style, unlike CYMA which is Inokatsu style. The only gripe I have about the wood is that it's already starting to peel away near the gas tube, it also does not have enough layers of wood, another gripe is that the RK10S does not feature a AKM style cleaning rod and has the normal AK74 one, they have different diamaters. The rear site is an AKM style and goes up to 100m, and is even painted white like the real steel. The stock is very solid and is moved by presson buttom on the reciever. Some people have experiance these buttons broken on arrival. MAG brand mags fit with no mod's this time but they are a little tight, the gun still does not accept several other mag brands such as CA and STAR. The worst part on this gun is the front site cant on almost every gun (mine included), it goes around 15 degrees clockwise and has a 2MM gap.

The Internals

This gun has a cloned VFC Version3 gearbox, is wired for a stick battery and uses an automotive style fuse. The hopup is clear and has a spring behind it to hold it to the gearbox, this was a VFC design and now dboy's finnaly cloned it. The RK10S has a 7MM bearing gearbox with a plastic and metal bearing spring guide, polycarbon pistol and pistonhead, brass cylinder and airnozzle. The gears are XYT and are STEEL and very well shimmed. The hopup rubber still sucks

Stats

RANGE:150-170 feet
FPS-400 with .2's, 380 with .25's.

Conclusion

Although I do have a few gripes about the gun, (wood tears, some corrosion under the steel dust cover). It's well worth what I paid. It's very solid, constructed great and has pretty decent internals. Swap out the hopup rubber and maybe get a new barrel, and you have a very nice AKMS replica at an affordable price.
