PostSubject: looking for a small CQB AEG   Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:07 am

I've got a JG m4 s-system and i love it, but it chrono'd at 405 fps at a game yesterday which was just barely above the limit for a 25' MED. im looking for something just barely under 330 fps so i can go full auto in CQB. a friend of mine has a JG G36C and he chrono'd at 325 or so, but i dont want to copy him. im a fan of MP5 variants. i would prefer to stay away from AK's unless i can find a really high quality for one for a reasonable price. i like unique guns such as the P90 and MP7.

any suggestions?

I would either get a new spring, maybe a Guarder SP-90, get another M4, or a pistol. If you can swap a spring its your cheapest alternative. You also already have the mags for the M4 system. Its a little boring, to have two of the same gun, but hey if you want full auto in cqb that's not a bad idea. I personally don't focus on CQB since most of the fight is getting there. I use my TM Hi-Capa once I'm engaging targets at close range. I have even found it useful in wooded areas but its uncommon.

Your other option.

Pistols in CQB are much more compact and provide a quicker reflex. They allow you to work angles much better than a stocked rifle. You still need to be very accurate since you may only have time to double tap someone in the chest. But, in my experience, I have felt comfortable in CQB with just a pistol when everyone else has an AEG.

Getting a pistol will also fill another part of your loadout allowing you to transition from your field rifle to a CQB. Allowing you to have access to more gameplay and control in what your team is facing.

A new gun may run you the same price as a good GBB. ~$150 shipped. I personally would not consider anything but a TM but others have their opinions. I have had mine for almost 3 years now and besides two loose screws and needing some silicone I have never had a problem. If anything I would say its trigger sear and hopup bucking need to be replaced but these are wear parts in GBBs. Its bone stock and I have been running it on propane since I got it. In the winter it shoots in the 270 and the summer its around 330+. I have engaged targets at 100' on many occasions and have been surprised how easy a shoot it is.

hope this helps,
mateba

alright thanks, i really like my FPS on my M4, so i dont really want to change the spring.

ive thought about getting a pistol, and i probablly will at some point, however ill probablly get an AEP.

im kind of looking for more of a main weapon with just a little more focus on cqb and a slightly lower FPS, again ill use the JG G36C as an example. its a good midsize rifle, with the fps almost right at 330.

If you have a friend that can do the spring swap for you your options will be better. Most ACM AEGs are going to higher velocities than you are looking for. You could buy a full metal 733 or CQB-R for under $200 and a spring for ~$15.

Airsoft GI has a:
JG M733 (M4 shorty) with 350FPS http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_166&products_id=2228
CA M4 Sportline with 320-350FPS http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_204&products_id=3733
TSD M733 with 330-360FPS http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_232&products_id=3342
might be worth the extra money. http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_302&products_id=5111

I think you might want to try an AEP and GBB before you make you decision. AEP get 200-250FPS, but hey some have 100 round mags if you like that.

I would only suggest an AEP if you have no respect for yourself or anything manly. Because I can quite understand why they even invented the AEP. I would recommend a pistol that way you could have your field rifle and go into cqb with your pistol.
