Yes and no. It doesn't have the appearance of a real support weapon so in most cases that setup will not be recognized by events as a LMG, so no. The events that don't care what LMGs look like it would function as a support weapon and in those cases I would consider it one.

You could convert it to a RPK74 for $150-200 plus shipping. You would still have a plastic body but that is a $50 fix. Converting AKs to RPKs used to cost A LOT MORE. Christmas is also around the corner.

Metal frame does not have a optics rail so you might want a different one if you want a scope of some sort. POSP scopes are the run of the mill scope you see on RPKs but they are usually $160+ but Russian optics are considered WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND for airsoft. That would be a very nice scope for your gun.
