PostSubject: CQB Weapons of Choice   Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:18 am

Since I do not know how much I will spend on this sport over time, I am trying to gather what I will need to get me into pretty much all of it now. After receiving and firing my G&G M16, I soon realized that this weapon will not fair so well in tight wooded areas, or CQB. What I need to get now, is a more manageable weapon to fill these needs.

I am debating getting a pistol for CQB or some M4 variant? I like the M4 as there are so many flavors... and I like pistols, but really would rather not mess with gassing the thing every one or two rounds...but I really like the pistol. There are not that many AEP's to choose from, and I would like to stick with a US military issue, which really limits me in AEP availability.

For the M4, I have narrowed my choices down to either the D-Boys M4 Full Metal S-System or the A&K M4 SPC Mod 0.

For a pistol, I really like the KJWorks Full Metal M1911 with the TanioKoba Grip...plus drop leg holster and accompanying GSE etc etc etc

Could I get some pointers on how best to approach CQB weaponry choices?

I think a pistol is a more versital choice. If you are just worried about getting into CQB (for an objective) and not staying in it, you can do just fine with a pistol. Remember that you can, with your M16, engage targets from 30' while outside or inside CQB. The reason I think that you would want a CQB gun is if you are always getting realy close, need lots of ammo in CQB, or intend to stay in cqb areas, like a trench.

A pistol is a great choice since you are just getting into airsoft. They are much less than most other purchases. And, they are easy to carry if you have a field rifle, SAW or rifle. There are full-auto choices and semi-choices. I will say it again, geta TM although Widowmaker is getting some surprising results from his WE 5.1. The WE hi-capas take TM parts and mags. They are full metal and take propane. They also cost $110. http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_25_130&products_id=1270 I don't think you should be conscerned about TM's plastic slides but if they are too much I can argue about that. The plastic slides are lighter and improve perfromance.

If you are looking for a full auto pistol, I would suggest the TM extreme. You can get 50rnd mags for them and they shoot every shot unlike most out there. A KSC M11, MP7 or MP9 are also fine choices but you should only consider the new gas system (system 7) they are better. The KSC choices are SMG but they do offer a semi-and full-auto unlike the extreme. AATV did a recent side-by-side review on all three of those.

Dark Dragon...must be my day.

After pouring over the youtube slop of "what's metal and what's plastic" reviews, I opted for the WE Hi-Capa 5.1 Dark Dragon V5...I really wanted the WE Hi-Capa 7.0 Dragon Slayer (sounds like self destruction)...but I could not find a holster that I could confirm would fit the beastly thing. I ordered from Evike, as they had the best pricing over AirsoftGI...I hope that I do not become a statistic of this store. As for the V5 of the Dark Dragon, I can only assume that it is the better of the versions <crossing fingers>

I also picked up a Sapien silicone/propane adapter, extra mag, drop leg holster and a few other misc items.

Thanks for the lead on this Admin

I know that this is too late... but has anyone given KWA Mac11 a thought?

I held it at airsoftatlanta the other day, and it is smaller than any pistol but has a really nice(20+rps) rate of fire and a huge magzine/gas capacity.
